Overview
Readiris PDF, from IRIS (part of Canon), is a desktop PDF and OCR application for Windows and macOS sold as a perpetual license with no subscription. The current version 27 comes in two editions. Readiris PDF 27 Essential, shown at $79.00 against a $129.00 reference price, covers scanning, OCR, editing, annotation, form filling, Office conversion and batch conversion. Readiris PDF 27 Elite, at $149.00 against $189.00, adds barcode extraction, automatic page separation, advanced form design and better multi-signature support. Elite volume packs start at $699 for five licenses. OCR covers 138 languages, output goes to more than 40 formats, and the app works directly with scanners, which suits IRIS's own hardware range. A free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee are offered. There is no web or mobile app, and no AI document chat is listed.
Who it's for
Home offices and small businesses that scan a lot of paper and would rather buy software once than subscribe. It also suits Mac and Windows households wanting the same tool on both. Elite suits admin teams that split and file scanned batches by barcode.
